Earthquake Recovery Program | General Santos City and Sarangani Province
Work location · Field-based in General Santos City and Sarangani Province
Contract · Ten-month fixed term, including an initial three-month probationary period
Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits, Inc. (ECOWEB) is looking for a Community Facilitator to work alongside earthquake-affected communities as they identify their recovery priorities, develop their own plans and put them into action.
The program uses the Survivor and Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach. As a facilitator, you will help community groups build on their own knowledge, skills and resources, make decisions together and access support for the recovery actions they choose.
What you will do
- Facilitate community visits, listening sessions and participatory assessments so that people affected by the earthquake can identify recovery priorities, local capacities and gaps in support.
- Help community groups develop practical action plans, budgets and microgrant proposals. Accompany groups through implementation, monitoring and simple financial and narrative reporting.
- Make it easier for people who may be left out of recovery decisions to participate, including women, older persons, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples and displaced households, where relevant.
- Coordinate with barangays, local government units and partner organizations to connect community plans with available services and support.
- Keep accurate field records, document progress and lessons, and submit updates on time. Explain how people can give feedback or raise concerns, follow up on routine feedback and refer sensitive concerns through designated channels.
What we are looking for
- Hands-on experience facilitating community groups in humanitarian response, disaster recovery, community development or a related field. Experience with community-led approaches, participatory planning or community microgrants is an advantage.
- Strong listening and facilitation skills. You can work respectfully with people who have different priorities, help groups reach decisions and support them through implementation.
- Ability to write clear field notes and reports, keep basic activity and budget records, and meet deadlines across multiple communities.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project communities in General Santos City and Sarangani Province. Familiarity with the area and ability to communicate in Cebuano or other languages used by partner communities are advantages.
- Integrity, initiative and reliable follow-through, including the judgment to handle sensitive information discreetly and raise concerns promptly.
