UNITY FOR OUR MANGYAN TRIBE COMMUNITY

An estimation of 100, 000 to 280, 000 or 7.5% to 21% are Mangyan in the entire population of Mindoro. 7 Provinces were affected by both typhoons with 9 deaths but still counting and affected approximately 209,457 persons or 49,557 families in 787 Barangays.

Specific area is in the province of Oriental Mindoro which to the present remained flooded that caused displacement of a partial count of 600 Indigenous Peoples families who lost their houses and agricultural livelihood. Fruit trees of Lanzones, Rambutan were all cut down by the strong wind and rainfall.

These displaced Mangyan Indigenous Peoples remained in the mountains and waited for the flood to subside before they can go down to check on their destroyed houses and livelihood.

Immediate assistance of construction materials is needed for them to build back their homes and food packs while working on their houses and starting to fix their farms. Seedlings of fruit trees will also be a need to replace the fallen source of their incomes. Pictures are yet to be taken because of unpassable roads due to high water level.
