Slide 15 Years in Service We are now ECOWEB Celebrates its 15th year of Mobilizing resources, Building Partnerships, and Empowering Communities. Slide USAID and Plan International "Having been with USAID and Plan International’s Marawi Response Project (MRP) since the project’s establishment in 2018, ECOWEB has been instrumental in fulfilling our goals of improving economic conditions and strengthening social cohesion among the communities affected by the 2017 Marawi siege.”

“Through our recipients and beneficiaries stories in both the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte, it is heartwarming to note that with the help of Ecoweb we have made significant strides in instilling self-reliance, a quality that is crucial in the sustainability of our efforts and in the transformation of the displaced and the communities that received them.”
Slide Relief International Bing Constantino "Relief International would like to express its strong support for and commitment to the Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits, Inc. (EcoWEB), and congratulate the great efforts of solid work to contribute towards a peaceful and progressive society.
Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits, Inc. (EcoWEB) has surely come a long way from its humble beginnings. Over the years, it has played an important role in empowering communities, upholding and protecting rights that cuts-across environmental issues, poverty, conflicts, governance, gender, among others. As a leading civil society organization in Mindanao, your programs and initiatives will build long-lasting capacity and set an example of accountability and justice on these issues. At this critical time of the pandemic, Relief International is truly grateful for this ongoing partnership with ECOWEB, as it has enabled the successful realization of project goals and targets with promising results and outcomes.

By adhering to their organization core values and maintaining their relationships with communities at the grassroots, they have consistently delivered beyond expectations, exceeding targets while nurturing strong work ethics and a harmonious working relationship amongst each one.

Having experts in the different fields of community organizing, child protection, women empowerment, and other key thematic areas, the organization is an asset in implementing programs in different communities. Projects are implemented with accountability to the affected population, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it the most, and with programs implemented with the right beneficiaries always in mind. Aside from a program team that delivers results, the organization also has high standards in financial accountability.
With these organizational assets, ECOWEB will surely grow a lot more as an organization, and as people for others in the community, in the coming years!"

Happy 15 years, ECOWEB!
Thank you for all that you do!
Slide Local to Global Partnerships Justin Corbett
“ECOWEB represents all that great civil society should stand for: strong social and environmental principles; courageous fighter for human-rights; undeniable integrity; remarkable commitment, energy and volunteer spirit; deep local and national knowledge; excellent networks; very low overheads (potting international actors to shame); inspiring humility and good spirit - and above all, deep solidarity with all marginalised and vulnerable people and a passion for community empowerment, locally and globally. You continue to inspire and teach us all. Until international agencies start to fund you decently and directly (instead of via INGO intermediaries), "localisation" will remain an empty word. May your beloved Mindanao see the peace, justice, social and environmental well-being for which you have worked so tirelessly before your next 30 years are up. Happy 30th Birthday ECOWEB - and salamat for all you have done and will do!”
Slide Local to Global Partnerships Danish Church Aid Neil Carstensen "Dear friends at ECOWEB - a big congratulations with all you have achieved over these last years - and are sure to accomplish also in years to come. To me, ECOWEB represents a unique collaborator who on one hand spearheads ways of working that puts activists and communities in the lead of their own response - and at the same time manages to make its voice heard loud and clear in national and international discussion about reforming an 'old school' aid sector, which has a very hard time letting go of its control and privileges.
Here is too hopefully a lot more years of supporting affected individuals' own agency - and continue to 'rock the boat' and change the thinking and practice of donors, authorities, UN, local, national and international NGOs."
Slide Christian Aid Simone Di Vicenz Happy birthday ECOWEB!

"I can only admired the passionate work done by ECOWEB. It is such a genuine, energetic, honest and good hearted organisation which has always had at its hearth crisis affected population. ECOWEB recognised early on that survivors can be agent of change and not passive victims. You needed to find a way to hand over power. With this lenses you engaged with work and people  with passion and humbleness, always ready to learn and improve from others and in particular from people they support. Their journey of questioning and then unlearning traditional humanitarian ways of working led them to be pioneers and then champion of innovative approaches and solutions that gives power and agency to individuals during crisis. With this passion and energy your voice arrived to international forum and have distinguished ECOWEB from the many. Your journey has been fabulous! You are now fifteen, and you still carry all the energy, passion and rebellious attitude that youthness brings! Please keep being rebel!"

Well done to you all.

Slide ECOWEB former staff Maya Street “For 15 years, ECOWEB has not only ‘responded’ to crises - they have uplifted and supported communities before and after crisis in a way that only a local organisation can - with a presence and knowledge deeply interwoven and committed to lasting meaningful connections across all walks of life. Their skill and delivery is a testament to a truly fantastic staff that are an example for any humanitarian worker. May we watch ECOWEB grow and continue to support - where needed, and where led, by ECOWEB and many other fantastic organisations and civil society groups in the Philippines.”
Slide ECOWEB former Volunteer from Zimbabwe Evans Ndadzungira “Ecoweb brought an exciting experience in my career. It has been a fulfilling journey filled with learning opportunities. I also had the chance to practice my expertise in the field of Environmental Management. As a result I gained important skills in capacity building and advocacy in relation to climate adaptation and mitigation within communities that are most affected by effects of global warming and climate change. Upto this day, though I am no longer at Ecoweb, I cherish the experience and its still relevant in my current day to day work”

Slide Congressman of the
Lone District of Iligan City
Hon. Frederick W. Siao First of all, allow me to express my earnest congratulations to the people behind the Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits. Inc. (ECOWEB) for your 15th Founding Anniversary on May 30, 2021. I am very honored for the opportunity of being your partner in community-based disaster risk reduction management and community-led response to humanitarian crisis.

I would like to recall my first experience with ECOWEB during the time of the Tropical Storm Sendong tragedy last December 2011. As a City Councilor back then and being the Chairman of the Evacuation Camp Management, ECOWEB was able to contribute a significant impact on the management of the different evacuation camps in Iligan City easing the lives of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). With the partnership, I became aware of the importance of disaster resiliency and advocating the significance of proactive response.

Over the years, my relationship with ECOWEB has grown and expanded in the community-driven development focusing on the sustainability of development programs in our local community in Iligan City. With the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our local farmers struggled to be more productive in order to combat the possible shortage of food security. With the Agricultural Development Program of the Lone District of Iligan City, interventions and interferences in addressing these challenges in agriculture was formulated and crafted with the objective of accessing national programs of the government through different agencies and partners. These accessed government projects and programs were effectively implemented in partnership with ECOWEB partner’s farmers in the hinterland barangays in Iligan City.

As the Congressman of the Lone District of Iligan City, it is my greatest intention to uplift the quality of life of the local community in Iligan City, especially the local farmers in the hinterland barangays. I firmly believe that there will be sustainable development with an effective collaboration and coordination with our partners in progress, with ECOWEB.

Again, my congratulations for the great success. I look forward to more and better initiatives in the future! Rest assured that this humble representation will always pray and wish for your success to be part of building of a stronger, unified, progressive, vibrant and dynamic Iligan City. ASENSO ILIGANON!
Slide Municipal Mayor LCE of ORAS Eastern Samar Hon. Viviane P. Alvarez Empowerment is at its best in Oras, and we are so humbled to have been chosen to be a partner of ECOWEB in the promotion of Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program.

As we continue to implement participatory governance and as we transform from great leadership to great organization, the Orasnon people are grateful to have developmental partners who share the same principle and ideals as ours.

Our sincerest gratitude to ECOWEB and we will always be in support of your quest to develop more disaster resilient communities.
Slide MDRRMO - ORAS Joann N. Salvatierra In behalf of the MDRRM Office of Oras, Eastern Samar, may I convey our deepest gratitude to ECOWEB for being our NGO partner for several years in the implementation of DRRM programs and projects in our locality.

May your continued advocacy on DRRM to become a way of life of the people be replicated in more areas as well to help achieve our nation’s aim for more empowered and resilient Filipinos.
Slide Barangay Chairman at Sandab Butig Lanao del Norte Hon. Macalawan G Diamaoden I am extending my gratitude to ECOWEB for being facilitating different groups representing the different sectors of the barangay and teaching them to plan for their own recovery – their journey after the multiple displacements.

In partnership with USAID and Plan International, thank you for extending assistances, livelihood and social cohesion projects, to the people of Sandab. I hope this will not be the last or ending of our partnership, but more partnerships to come thru extending more programs in assisting the populace of our community. And continue to be with us and uplift the socio-economic of Sandab, Butig Lanao del Sur.

These charity services will not be forgotten until the next generation of the town, and we pray that our Almighty ALLAH will bless you more! Happy 15th years of humanitarian services!
Slide SK Chairman, Brgy. Poctan Yasring P. Hadji Rauf As the SK chairman of Poctan I am very thankful to ECOWEB for having our barangay as one of the barangays that they have reached. As we all know our barangay is very hard to reach because of the unconstructed and rocky roads and it was one of the most affected area during the siege in Butig yet they don't hesitate to reach us.

ECOWEB has become one of the avenues who take part for the youth of Poctan to be empowered and make them participate in the community. They were one of the reasons why our youth became proactive, they gave the youth of Poctan a chance to be exposed in different trainings and advocacies that can help sustaining peace in our community.

So, on behalf of the youth of Poctan, thank you very much for the opportunities that you gave to us. You are a blessing that came to us. May Almighty bless you all.

Even they looked haggard and weary sometimes, they will still show you their sweetest smiles when talking to you. Their optimistic attitude is what i really adore from them.

Their devotion to their job and to the IDP's and host of Butig is extraordinary. They'll be in front of your house rain or shine. This 2021, as the 15th year of ECOWEB’s journey with its partners in creating social spaces for change, aimed to contribute to attaining a peaceful and progressive society living in a safe environment.

ECOWEB started very small, very local. We started without external funding, relying on the passion, dedication, capacity, and commitment of our 16 founding members especially of the first elected board of trustees and the management team.

We relied on the trust of our local partners. We started as volunteers, sharing our existing capacities and brought with us our experiences, knowledge, skills, and learning we acquired from our many years of development, peacebuilding and humanitarian works prior to ECOWEB.

The combination of capacities of founding members of different complementary (age, gender and background experiences) in working with multi-ethnic and multi-culture communities, local and international NGOs, academe and government, shaped the foundation of ECOWEB and in defining its founding human-ecosystems-development framework.

We take pride of our humble beginning. We started our operation by pooling whatever resources members can bring to the organization. We started by bringing our own computers, tables, chairs and using our vehicles. Looking back, I am so thankful to all those who trusted us and provided us support in our start-up years.

The trust of Kolambugan LGU in Lanao del Norte thru the leadership of former Mayor Bertrand Lumaque was an important part of our beginning. The Kolambugan LGU enabled us to demonstrate our capacity in facilitating participatory peace-enabling and comprehensive Barangay Development Plans in 2006.

This, and our other voluntary services to other conflict affected communities in Lanao such as Poona Piagapo that was affected of armed conflict in 2003 were our first important milestones of the organization. The trust of our first international funding partners namely CAFOD and Caritas Australia, despite being a two-year old organization.

In 2007, marked another significant milestone that led to so many engagements and partnerships with many communities, CSOs and NGOs and networks, INGOs, UN agencies, private sector, local and national government agencies demonstrating our capacity not only in co-creating social spaces for change in the local level but also in the national and international level.

In its 15 years journey, ECOWEB have demonstrated that with dedication, commitment, and passion to work guided by our core values of upholding integrity within the organization and respect for human rights and dignity of people as focus and the ecosystems as locus of development with trust and support of and in partnership with our partners at all levels, local CSOs can really make a difference in our society.

Over the years, we gained much learning and we continue to learn from the ever dynamic and changing condition and complex situation we are facing. As we build more meaningful partnerships, we are able to mobilize more resources and empower more communities to journey with us towards realizing our vision of a peaceful and progressive society living in a safe environment.

Thank you ECOWEBers for your dedication and commitment to realizing the mission of ECOWEB. Happy anniversary![/ultimate_heading][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
