Hibla ng Buhay or Fiber of Life is a documentary film produced under the GreenFiber Project, implemented by Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits (ECOWEB), Inc. The film highlights the lives, experiences, and aspirations of abaca-growing communities in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, and the collective efforts to strengthen sustainable livelihoods while promoting environmental stewardship and community resilience.
Through the voices of farmers, Indigenous Peoples, local partners, and communities, Hibla ng Buhay weaves together stories of hope and shared action – showing how abaca is more than a fiber. It is a source of life, identity, opportunity, and a pathway toward a more sustainable future.
The GreenFiber Project is implemented by ECOWEB with the support of AWO International, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH), in collaboration with the Municipal Local Government Unit of Sibagat (MLGU-Sibagat), the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), Caraga State University (CSU), Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC), the Wawa Sectoral Tribal Council (WSTC) of CADT 093, and other local partners in the CARAGA Region.
