Provision of Multi-Purpose Community Facilities

ECOWEBHighlights | Community solidarity groups of Abaga and Barit, Balindong, Lanao del Sur have put forward their main priority of having multi-purpose community facilities in their barangay.

This was proposed by the groups Abaganians with 57 members and Pag-Asa with 54 members in which are composed of both internally displaced persons and host community members.
These groups of the two barangays have expressed that based on experiences, they were not able to conveniently attend community gatherings and meetings. This is because there are limited number of chairs, tables and not even a proper sound system that they can use during various events.
Meanwhile, they also communicated during series of assessments that the barangay hall needs to have improvement in terms of having sufficient office supplies and equipment needed for faster transactions.

Currently, the barangay has utilized the social cohesion grant, however, community gathering facilities were not fully functional due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hon. Caris Macarambon, chairperson of Abaga and Hon. Abdul Hakim Aliga, chairperson of Barit expressed their commitment to safekeep the facilities as these are in custody of their offices.
This project was made possible through the #USAIDMarawiResponseProject with Plan International in partnership with ECOWEB.
