Three EcoWEB youth get automotive tech scholarship from Hyundai Dream Centre Philippines

Five (5) scholars from the Marawi Response Project youths were sent to Hyundai Dream Center Philippines for a 6-month training and education in automotive technology at Calamba City, Laguna last September 20, 2019

EcoWEB’s three young men, Samroden Maruhom, Janjan Indardaya, and Amerali Ampaso and two from MARADECA Abdulrafi Palawan and Allanor Mauna are the first youths from Iligan City and Marawi City who were selected in the program provided by the Hyundai Dream Center Philippines (HDCP) in partnership with Hyundai Motor Group (HMG), Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (DAY) and Plan International.

The program aims to expand the opportunities of young people with low privileges but with the necessary potentials in developing their skills specifically for their preparation in acquiring jobs in the automotive industry.

The scholars will undergo six months of training before graduating as an on-the-job trainee at various dealerships throughout the Philippines. The company assures that all graduates of the program have the opportunity to work at one of the Hyundai dealerships with legal certifications.

One of the guests who attended and welcomed the 46 young people to join in the Batch 4 was HARI Chief Finance Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the Corporate and Trade Operations Support Services Group, Ladislao Avila who thanked the support group who shared their knowledge and hone the chances of making the dream of the young people come true.

“I hope every scholar will find the program useful for their personal growth and development. This program aims for the continuity of inspiring and helping the underprivileged youths. It is not just a personal victory of the scholars from Marawi City but as well as rebuilding their city again with their learnings from this program.” said Avila.

Accordingly, Hyundai aims to help Marawi City and its people recover from the tragedy of the siege. With this program, it inspires and hones youths of the Islamic City to become service advisor, job controller, telemarketer, technician and other work aspects of Hyundai.

Vic Pilotin, Hyundai Dream Center Project Manager, concluded the program and further discussed the rules in the classroom and in the quarters where they will be lodging for six months. The scholars are also encouraged to speak up for questions or concerns about their beliefs and culture.

The Hyundai Dream Center is mixed with the TESDA training curriculum under the basic automotive course. NC1 and NC2 modules are embedded to the course which the trainees will undergo for 1-3 months.

Among the MRP working group who came to Laguna were Arven Arceno of EcoWEB, Mama Palawan of MARADECA, and Maya Devero of the Plan International-Marawi Response Project.
