In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Penha (#BasyangPH), families in Ubaldo Laya faced the challenge of clearing mud, debris, and waste from their surroundings. In response, the Ubaldo Manuang Community Association mobilized its members to lead community clean-up efforts.
Through the Survivor and Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach facilitated by EcoWEB, the group received its second cycle microgrant worth PhP 18,140.00, released on March 7, 2026, to support their clean-up drive. The grant provided essential materials such as shovels, rakes, brooms, gloves, boots, sacks, and wheelbarrows.
With 85 families (198 individuals) involved, the community will work together to restore cleanliness and reduce health risks in their area.

This builds on their earlier initiative, where the association received a PhP 32,780 microgrant to provide underwear and essential clothing to families who lost their belongings—ensuring that dignity and basic needs were not overlooked in recovery.
Through these efforts, the group shows how communities can take the lead in identifying their needs and driving their own recovery.
This project is supported through EcoWEB and partners, in collaboration with the City Local Government Unit of Iligan through the Gender and Development Committee, and in partnership with CLEARNet.
EcoWEB continues to seek your support for communities recovering from the impacts of Tropical Storm Penha.
