In Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City, the Alamanda Women’s Association led the immediate recovery efforts following the heavy flooding caused by Tropical Storm Penha (#BasyangPH). Mobilizing residents to clear the mud and debris left by the storm, the women group proposed cleaning materials through the survivor and community-led response (sclr) approach facilitated by the EcoWEB, Inc.

The project amounting to PhP 49,000 and released last February 28, 2026 was co-funded by the City Local Government Unit of Iligan, through the Gender and Development Committee and in partnership with the CLEARNet. This micro-grant allowed women leaders and members to organize sustained clean-up activities across their community.

“We are very thankful that an organization like EcoWEB helped and listened to us during a time like this. As you can see, we really need these materials to clean up the mud and trash that were left by Basyang,” shared Marilou Abapo, President of the Alamanda Women’s Association.
In line with the celebration of the International Women’s Day, the EcoWEB highlights women-led initiatives applying the sclr approach as part of the early recovery of Iligan City. Currently, we continue to seek your kind and generous assistance for these families.
