WOMEN in #sclr: Early recovery interventions

In Barangay Tubod, Iligan City, the Women’s Urban Association of Purok Mangga II took the initiative to organize a large-scale clean-up drive following the survivor and community-led response approach. Addressing the urgent needs, the sclr process provided another alternative solution to the major concern of clearing the mud and debris caused by the recent Tropical Storm Penha (#Basyang).

With the approved micro-grant amounting to PhP 91,400 and released on February 28, the association targeted to mobilize residents to remove the waste accumulated in their homes and public spaces.

“We are very grateful to EcoWEB and the GAD office because we received a project like this that will help the entire community,” President Heles Batuigas emphasized during the ceremonial turnover of the micro-grant.

This project is co-funded by the City Local Government Unit of Iligan, through the Gender and Development Committee and in partnership with the CLEARNet.

In line with the celebration of the International Women’s Day, the EcoWEB highlights women-led initiatives applying the sclr approach as part of the early recovery of Iligan City. Currently, we continue to seek your kind and generous assistance for these families.
