EcoWEB, Inc. conducted the first batch of Community Solidarity Groups’ (CSG) Project Development Writeshop held at Minkay Beach Resort, Initao, Misamis Oriental last August 23-25, 2019 which aims to provide and give opportunity to community solidarity groups in enhancing the skills of the project proponents and developing their project concept notes.
Among the major aims of the Marawi Response Project (MRP) are to attain economic improvement of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and to foster social cohesion between and among the IDPs and the host community members.
To start realizing this aspiration, 11 CSGs coming from different target communities convened to review and finalize their project concept notes regarding their proposed livelihood and social cohesion projects.
All of which are based on their identified needs and proposed projects with integration of the results from the community assessments and tools used in the target communities.
Basically, they were taught and guided on the fundamentals of project development and the step-by-step concept note writing. The activity also aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge on community sensitivity and be cognizant on children safeguarding and gender and environmental crosscutting for an effective and efficient project implementation.
For the proposed livelihood projects ready for concept note finalization, these include native chicken production, duck raising, ready-to-wear retailing and farming tools and dressmaking. Also, community improvement projects include improvement of the Municipal Youth Peace and Development Center, street lights, health center improvement, watersystem rehabilitation and barangay multi-purpose improvement.
CSGs from Sandab, Tiowi and Poblacion Bayabao Butig, Lanao del Sur, Mahayahay, Iligan City, Cabasaran and Poblacion, Pantar and Landa, Balo-i, Lanao del Norte were invited during the writeshop for the first batch of concept notes that are on the line for finalization and submission.
Since the organization is promoting active participation and self-reliance among the community members using the Survivor and Community-Led Response (sclr) approach, the participants have acquired not just the skills on writing but the significant exposures and efforts to learn more of the essence of the project, sense of ownership and the concept of sustainability for their project initiatives.
