Community-led Task Force Kalinisan mobilizes community clean-up in Tambacan

In the aftermath of the flooding brought by Tropical Storm Penha (#BasyangPH) in Iligan City, many areas in Barangay Tambacan were left covered in mud, debris, and accumulated waste. Recognizing the urgent need to restore sanitation and safe surroundings, Task Force Kalinisan quickly organized residents to take action and begin cleaning their community.

Through the Survivor and Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach facilitated by EcoWEB, the group proposed the Provision of Cleaning Materials for a Community Clean-up Drive. With the support of a microgrant worth Php 52,150 released on February 28, Task Force Kalinisan was able to secure essential tools such as brooms, shovels, and other cleaning supplies needed to carry out organized clean-up activities.

With these materials, volunteers and residents worked together to clear debris, remove mud from pathways and public spaces, and restore the cleanliness of their surroundings. Their efforts not only helped improve sanitation conditions but also reduced potential health risks for families affected by the flooding.

The initiative highlights how community-led action plays a vital role in early recovery. By mobilizing local volunteers and residents, Task Force Kalinisan is helping ensure that recovery efforts remain community-driven, participatory, and sustainable.

This project is co-funded by the City Local Government Unit of Iligan through the Gender and Development Office, in partnership with CLEARNet, as part of ongoing support for communities recovering from the impacts of Tropical Storm Penha.

EcoWEB continues to seek your kind and generous assistance to support communities recovering from the impacts of Tropical Storm Penha.
