The Iligan City Peoples Council, through the Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits (EcoWEB), Inc. as the lead of the LGU Humanitarian Response and Recovery sub-cluster, assisted the provision of shelter repair hygiene kit courtesy of the Office of Civil Defense and family food pack courtesy of the City Local Government of Unit of Iligan through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Advocating for the whole-of-society approach and further strengthening the on-the-ground coordination with all stakeholders including the barangay officials, community groups, national government agencies and local government units, the ICPC ensures that timely and organized relief assistance will reach all affected families of the recent Tropical Storm Basyang.
The relief operation held along the damaged riverside in Purok 10, Barangay Palao was spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) led by Administrator Harold N. Cabreros, along with Iligan City Mayor Frederick W. Siao, OCD-X Regional Director Antonio Sugarol and ICDRRM Officer Armien Alorro.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region X also distributed family food packs to further augment relief support. The OCD visit underscored the gravity of the situation faced by many families and reinforced the need for sustained coordination between national and local agencies. Undersecretary Cabreros emphasized the collaboration and the critical role of civil society coordination through the ICPC to ensure accountability.
EcoWEB along with its partner community groups continue working together to support the affected communities, not only in meeting urgent needs, but also in strengthening resilience and a dignified and collective recovery.
